You shouldn’t we towed our 5.0TA with our previous Sierra 5.3, 4X4.

My tow rating only 7840 and I think the cargo weight is only 1350. I have a 2015 Ram crew cab EcoDiesel and from my calculations I'm good to go. Now it's just me and my wife and she weighs about 105 and I'm at Parris Island graduation weight of 175. We have two dogs one 35 lbs and the other about 40. About 700 on the hitch. One reason I got an Andersen hitch was weight limitations. You would have zero problems with that engine, transmission and that's a great ratio on the rear end for a trailer. So unless you load 4 people that weigh something like 250 you should have no problems.

With that gearing and payload you should have no trouble towing your Escape. People usually run out of payload before hitting their max tow capacity.

Shouldn’t have any problems at all. These are light trailers and your truck will pull it easily.

Same as my setup. Love towing the TA. 10mpg@68-70 and 14mpg@62. Sweet!

I'm not the "you" but:

You'll find the Andersen hitch is chosen by the vast majority of 5.0 owners. Is it better? Define better. Everyone has reasons for their choice of hitch. We have the Andersen rail mount version.

Because we were hauling at least one trike in the bed of our pickup we chose the rail version of the Andersen, since it takes up less bed space (24" x 24") allowing us to easily put a trike in back. The gooseneck ball version is 31.5" long by 35.6" wide. That takes up nearly a foot of space between the wheel wells, much less it being 7.5" longer. We were not willing to give up that much space in the truck bed. This is our second 5th wheel (2001 Jayco Eagle 26') and the bed rails do not bother us.

Also, to get clearance for our 20" trike wheels we chose to have the 2 1/2" high lift package. ETI installed our 5.0 hitch on the camper incorrectly, the trike wheel would rub the hitch, and the front of the camper was a little over 1" too high and the ball too low in the bed of the pickup. We raised the ball AND the hitch on the camper, so now our camper sits almost perfectly level. The wheel clears by about 2".

Enjoy,

Perry
