5th wheel hitch on Tacoma

Does anyone tow a 5th wheel with a Toyota Tacoma or another truck with a composite (not steel) bed?

I would have serious concerns about attaching the hitch to the bed, so would like to get the group's ideas on mounting it. A friend who is an imaginative and expert welder proposes a steel X-frame attached to the tow-package hitch (class 4), resting on top of the bed.

Opinions? Ideas?

We don't have the truck or the Escape (yet) but would like to know.

I have a 07 Tacoma and have seen one with a hitch in the bed.
The mounts just go through the composite bed and attach to the frame.

a number of scamp 5th wheel folks have attached a 5th hitch to the plastic bed tacoma.

I tow a 5th wheel with my Tacoma. I have a bigfoot 5th wheel which I tow with my 2006 quad cab. I had the hitch installed last summer by a local shop named E & H hitches.

I know E&H from when I lived in Cloverdale
they are a good bunch, nice truck by the way.
