Mine are the Grand Aero. They are rectangular, not teardrop shape. Both driver and passenger side improve the view for a long way behind the trailer.
The view is improved on the right side- it just doesn't show me as much as I see on the left side. Not sure it improves as much but that's harder to judge. I should be able to do just as well as you do with the Rav4 so not sure why I'm not getting it adjusted right. Without the mirrors I really can't see behind the trailer. On the left, with them, I can see the lane behind the trailer (not immediately but as close as any cars got yesterday). On the right I see just part of the car behind. I'll get someone to help and experiment with it next time.

Try turning the mirror 90 degrees from the position you have it in.

I seem to be able to see better that way.
