AERO X Truck Cap
I saw this and not sure if I like it or not. Kinda cool I guess, but I don't think I would buy one. https://www.mivehiclesolutions.com/a...conversion-kit

I like that, an in between a cap and a tonneau cover.

Ugh no. Reminds me of the early 2000s Avalanche. Didn't like those either.

It's not a new idea - this sort of thing has been around for decades. It's not just that it looks like a fastback from the 1970's with aftermarket louvres; actual pickup caps like this have been sold.
It seems like a really poor compromise to me: kills rear visibility without adding useful cargo volume, and looks like it is supposed to help aerodynamics but probably won't. On the other hand, if what you really wanted was a muscle car (coupe with enormous engine), and what you bought was a pickup (to get the engine), this is what you need to cover that weird open space that you'll never use. The alternative is a regular flat hard tonneau, for the oversize notchback coupe or sedan effect.

Ford Raptor [emoji16]
I wonder what the Raptor’s towing capacity is...

If it was free, I would have to think if I wanted it on my truck or not.

Yep, the Raptor gets the "high output" (510 hp) version of the EcoBoost 3.5 L. It's a capable off-road truck, but that doesn't mean that everyone buys them to go off-road.
Although the towing comment is presumably not serious... it is 6,000 pounds (with a 12,000 lb GCWR). Enough for any Escape.

That variant of the HMMWV is probably one reason for the return of this style; it has also been used in some rally vehicles.

I'm kind of with the author of this article. I think they're an eyesore.

Although uniquely unattractive, it may be more functional than a tonneau cover but offer no advantage over a full cap.

Many a pleasant afternoon wasted trying to clean between all those louvres.

Hmmm,
I may the only person that purchases a truck topper based head clearance for my avatar. That one wouldn't work.

You mean he does not travel inside the vehicle? I always thought the outside truck bed was subject to exhaust fumes?

I always liked the advertisement where the guy says to the lady with the AMC Gremlin “ where’s the other half of your car, Toots? The first time I got in a Dodge Charger in the 60’s I couldn’t believe how limited the view was from the interior rear view mirror.

The only reason you wanted to look out the rear was for cops...................for speeding in that Charger. I think I got more tickets for my loud scavenger pipes with cherry bomb mufflers on my 56 Ford than for speeding.

Wasn’t it a famous politician who ran for president and is now a US Senator who revealed that his family put a dog in a kennel on the roof of his station wagon and took off on a family vacation? I hauled my shorthair in both the box and cap and in my slide in pickup camper with no ill effects. Never thought it irresponsible but things have changed in 45 years. Our
current dog rides in a kennel behind the driver in the SUV.

Those Chargers were pretty quick. So were the Coronets.
