Before we picked up our Escape 19', in early August, I used our bathroom and our kitchen scale to weigh every single thing we were going to put into it. On our way back from picking it up (and camping with it for a week), we weighed everything at a scale. We found that we were within 10% of what we expected.
What stands out is how much everything weighs when you add it all up. Our contents, for summer dry camping, weigh 426 pounds (and a full fresh water tank, filled at the campground, adds another 224 pounds).
I've created a spreadsheet with every item and its weight recorded (and sent a copy to our insurance agent) so that we can be assured that we're staying well within the rating for both the truck's and the trailer's payloads.
