Andersen Ultimate kingpin coupler block installation

Hello Andersen Ultimate users/5.0TA owners,

We just received our Andersen Ultimate gooseneck mount and have a couple questions related to installing the coupler block on our 5.0TA. Is there any reason to leave the 5th Wheel lube plate? Where on your 5.0TA did you mount the remote latch cable?

Our F150 Supercab should be arriving any day and the B&W Turnover gooseneck hitch is ready for installation in it.

I removed the slip plate on my temp trailer, there is no need at all for it with the pin coupler solidly affixed. I have had the combination you are setting up for a year now, and just love it.

I am looking forward to installing the ball funnel on my pin coupler, to give me that wee bit more allowance for lining up to the hitch, as it was not supplied when I bought mine. A local hitch shop was nice enough to just give me one.

No, and there's good reason to leave it off: the coupler block is clamped around the pin by two bolts, but needs the four set screws bearing up on the fifth-wheel plate to be secure and stable - you certainly wouldn't want those bearing on a lube plate, and even if they went between the fingers of the lube plate they might not be long enough to reach properly.

So, no lube plate.
