Great news! I just got an email from Tammy stating that they've just ordered a couple of the Andersen hitches. I guess they're responding to all of us who have been inquiring about them. What a great company. She priced them at $500 plus $75 to install. Done deal as far as I'm concerned.

Nice thanks for the update Parker. The advert says easy one pin drop but you are also hunched down ratcheting one side then the other every Hook-up and disconnect. Also, with connect, you ratchet look and count threads, ratchet look and count threads each side to make them even is this correct?

Correct, but there is no grease to content with and it is a lot easier than the "bar" method.

Why? It would be your personal property which you would be taking back to the U.S. with you.

To make it clear that this was not a product being imported into Canada - and recognizing the cargo space problem - I would put the hitch head in the receiver and carry only the remaining chains and brackets in the smallest box which would contain them.

Of the three pre-trips I made to Chilliwack prior to pick-up, only once was I asked if I was taking anything up for the trailer. Thankfully, that was one time I didn't have anything with me. I don't know what it would have meant had I had something to install. And now that Escape exports the trailer down to Sumas (rather than US citizens importing the trailer into the US), it may be a different ball game. I think it's wise to ask.

Dave, I have mine now. It is still sitting in the box in my garage, as I have been too busy with work to take my trailer to level ground (my drive is very sloped) to set it up and try it (had to go on a 4 day river canoeing trip this past weekend too ). I will be doing a short trip in 1 1/2 weeks and will likely set it up for then, but will definitely set to go to the Escape Rally. I will post my thoughts and experience then, for sure.

Just towed the Escape with the Andersen and Ram set up. Towed straight and true thru 35 mph winds last night in Des Moines, Iowa on the way here to a rally in Nebraska. I think the winds last night and today were left over residue from the tragedy in Oklahoma. I never had any sway even with the strongest winds. Drove through the Pennsylvania/West Virginia mountains, got 11 mpg, on the flat land Ohio/Indiana/Illinois I got 13 mpg. When I hit Iowa and the wind and had it for the next 500 miles, took a hit back down to 11 mpg. Drove non stop Sunday night to last night thru 6 states until right past Des Moines. Stopped at rest area until this am and arrived in Minden, Ne. 1350 miles in little over 36 hours.
I did let some air out of my rear shocks down to 5 psi to allow the truck to absorb some of the road ups/downs since the Andersen kept the Escape locked to the back of the truck. This way allowed the Escape to tow smoother without any thing falling to floor, even my cutting board on the stove and the sink cover stayed in it's place.
Other than the wind causing poor gas, I'm very pleased with the straight and narrow towing with the Andersen.

Jim B, thanks for the update will be interested in your feedback on install and use.
Jim, great to hear how well it worked on the Ram with the wind etc. The added sway control is a real plus for this unit. Hope your trip back will be more leisurely.
The install doesn't look difficult. Will be interested to hear from others who are getting their units from Escape.
I like what I've read elsewhere and the feedback here.

Watchful waiting.

I will be waiting to hear what Carol R has to say with regard to her experience with the Andersen Hitch. (Also her other ones as well.). I would imagine that the springs are screwed in to the same spot each time and the threads could be marked. On my WDH, I have pink nail polish with glitter marking the proper link that fits on the "hook". That way, I don't forget between times. I also did that on the safety chains as well. (Since I don't normally use nail polish, I had to do something with the extra.)

I agree. The nut runs over the exposed thread section in use, so I wouldn't put any kind of paint (or polish) there.

Also, I believe that the urethane spring will permanently deform with time, so that a while from now the desired nut setting will be screwed further down the threaded rod to attain the same weight distribution action... be prepared for change.

Maybe this has been mentioned already, but what size wrench or socket do I need for the tensioning nuts? We're picking up our 19 next month, with Andersen WDH and I think I'll pack a deep socket and ratchet for the occasion.

The hitch comes with a socket and socket wrench, I think it is 1 1/8"- check with Escape,mine was included.

Maybe I forgot that the wrench was mine, sorry. It is a 3/8" drive.
