Any Ridgeline Owners towing either a 19' or a 21'

I have a 2017 AWD Ridgeline, currently towing a Casita 17' w/o difficulty. I am interested in hearing from Ridgeline owners about their experiences towing Scamps.
Thanks in advance.
M

I assume you mean Escapes.

Not me- I'm towing a 15A. But a number of people are towing with Honda PIlots which are supposedly similar. 19s anyway, not sure about 21s.

I have Ridgeline 2019 Ridgeline and have had no issues towing our Escape 19’. We live in Vancouver BC and have towed the 19’ down I5 to SAN Fran returning up the coast and had no issues. This spring we were over the Coquahalla several times and then to Calgary ( several steep mountain passes ending up in Banff) retuning over highway 20 in WA through Windthrope and Sedro W with no problems. I think the dual axles and brakes make the 19’ a better tow then the 17’ and while heavier it’s still well within the Ridgeline’ capacity.

Yes I use a WDH. No anti sway and never had an issue.

Hi fellow BC member. My wife and I are going to buy a 19 and we have short listed the Ridgeline as a TV. Did you add any options to your Ridgeline to enhance towing? Does it rev high over the Coq or in the Rockies?
Cheers
Greg

I tow a 17B up the Coq with a RAV4. It does rev "high" from the snow shed to the summit, but that's about 10 minutes out of five hours from North Van to Osoyoos.

Ridgeline Towing Escape 19

The Ridgeline comes well equipped for towing; with hitch, trailer plug and extra capacity trans cooling. I added a Tekonsha P3 brake controller which is basically plug and play. You Tube has some videos regarding this. I don’t have extended mirrors but might be something to consider.

As far as engine reving goes on decent I will try and maintain 4000-5000 RPM using D4 or L if required. On ascent I try and keep it in the same range and stick to the RH lane. The engine red lines at 6800 RPM so have lots of room.

This is my second RL as I had a Gen 1 traded it out at 100K km. We started with an Escape 17 but believe the 19 with dual axles tows better and has better braking performance.

I looked hard at the F150 and could have acquired one through my corporate purchasing group. I had one for a week and felt the build quality, fuel consumption, ride quality and overall size did not fit into my needs. I tow less then 15% of the time and live in the GVRD and the RL fits in all underground parking lots.

We have traveled the Coq several times and throughout the Canadian Rockies and I was never uncomfortable.

This is second hand information, but my son has a "18 Ridgeline and has towed a rented/borrowed travel trailer with it. He reports no problems, and his trip was through some significant elevation gains east of San Diego. I have driven it and have sat for a couple hours in the back between two car seats and can say it's pretty roomy. The sub-bed trunk is a big bonus if you don't want to put a cover on the back.
