Anyone use the RAS suspension?
Is anyone using the Roadmaster Active Suspension system on the rear leaf springs of their tow vehicle?

I was thinking of getting Firestone Airbags for my Tundra as I really liked them on my 2014 Tacoma. But it turns out the airbags use the same hole in the frame as my B&W bracket for my turnover gooseneck ball.
So I’m Looking for an alternative. This looks like a viable option but wanted to check with the collective wisdom of this forum first.
I’m towing a 2019 5.0 TA.

I like the Firestone Airbags I put on my Ram and the feeder line exits by the rear license plate, and the bags fit inside my coil springs, not sure why that interferes with your fifth wheel hitch setup?

Do you need to beef up the suspension, I believe the Tundra has around 1500 LB payload which should be more then sufficient.

Hi Jim, The Tundra has leaf springs. The airbags fit between the springs above the axle and the frame. They are secured to the frame side via a hole in the C-channel that is now used by the bracket for the B&W gooseneck ball. The bracket is tight up against the underside of the bed spanning across the with of the truck to both frames.
So in the Tundra application the holes the air bags use are already occupied by the gooseneck bracket.

This is a load leveling solution not a payload capacity solution. You are correct, I have plenty of payload capacity. I want to improve the ride and level the truck under load.

This specific add-on spring has come up in discussion a few times. A relatively in-depth discussion was in 5.0TA with 2015 F150 2.7L 5.5ft bed, starting at post #20. Of course some additional forum members may have tried these springs since that discussion, which was in 2015.

Have had airbags in the past. They work great to help to get your truck to a reasonable level with a heavy payload to take the load off the springs so they can still work properly. The rest is an illusion. For a slight leveling improvement with a reasonable payload (such as that with our 5.0) they made the ride bouncy/hard when within the payload capacity of the truck. Our F150 only drops 1.25-1.5" when the loaded 5.0 is attached and we feel the ride is actually improved.

Check out Sumo Springs. I had them on my Tacoma & was happy with them. They replace the axle bumpers on the springs.

I had them on my Tacoma as well and liked them. Unfortunately the bracket for the B&W gooseneck interferes.
I’m now thinking maybe I don’t need anything. The Tundra handled the 5.0 just fine. The sag is minimal. The trip to Osoyoos today was the first real test with all our gear over mountain passes and other challenges. (I-5 traffic through Tacoma!). The ride was smooth, the power more than enough, the drive relaxed.
