When I back into a site at night, I make sure my guide is dressed in a visible manner so that I can easily see their directions.

LED backup lights and two way radios have been very usefull for us. Although our strategy provides less entertainment for others already set up in the campground.

I very, very seldom travel at night... like twice in 10 years. But it's interesting to see what folks do in order to get parked at night. The last single traveler I saw backing in a big ole 5th wheel, first got out and looked. Then, laid two flashlights down. One at the very back of the site passenger side and one next to the current bush. He got it in where he wanted it on the first pass.

Donna, great hint to pass on.

This is similar to what I often do, though usually during the day. I place a stick or some other marker right beside where I want a wheel to stop. No guesswork from the drivers seat that way. Never thought of a light at night, what a great idea.

I've used the flashlight technique.

Also, we carry a booster battery pack in the car, and the first one we had included a flood light, which worked both as a marker and a source of broad area lighting.

It was just a few weeks ago that someone posted a link to a couple of videos that showed how to give good backing signals -- like a aircraft ground person. But I can't find them for the life of me. I want to show them to my gud wyf Lindy so that she can help me back up better. I tried a demonstration, but she just laughed. :-). Can someone repost the link? Thanks.

I had Reace install 2 50w floodlights on the rear bumper with a switch on my dash by the trailer brake. I do not trust my wife's hand signals (generally delivered from behind the trailer, out of my view). They have proven very useful for calming my nerves backing up in the dark.
