My local Airstream dealer had a Ford Freestar setup with a 28’ trailer so I thought buying a bigger tent trailer was a good idea. It took everything the van had to get to our favorite camp sites.
Last year on our trip I was surprised how my 4Runner towed at higher elevations. Using near 75% of your accelerator pedal for extended periods of time are not good for the longevity of your vehicle. I received the advice of 50% capacity from a farmer I worked with. He said it’s not the towing but rather emergency situations like hard braking or swerving to miss objects or cars. If I could afford a Powerstroke or a Cummins that’s what I would buy.
I see Jim, you are smart and use a F150 as a tow vehicle. More vehicle, less trailer, perfect combination.
The minivan was a bad idea.
