Re: Bike Rack

I bought a Swagman XC 2 (Cross-Country 2-Bike Hitch Mount Rack) for my Escape 19 http://www.swagman.net/products/platform-racks/xc-2/ and the anti-rattle locking hitch pin http://www.swagman.net/products/rack...ing-hitch-pin/ to use on my Escape 19. I installed it for the first time today and it seems to be a good fit. I now wish that I had got the high mounted brake light option and will definitely get them added next time I am near Chilliwack.

Re: Bike Rack

We have the four bike Swagman, and it works well. Some of the newer bike frames will not fit on the rack, but you can buy a bar that goes from the handle bar stem to the seat stem which works with the rack. In the end we started carrying our kids bikes inside just to minimize weight on the rack and bring weight forward. You can also get a special expanding pin that attaches the bike rack to you bike-rack-ready hitch that minimizes the wobble of the bike rack.

Thank you for this tidbit of information. I had to get rid of my last rack because it could not hold our current mountain bikes. It is good to know that I will be able to keep this one for awhile.

RE: Bike rack

At a stop light I saw this two-bike rack which fit over the trailer tire. It was secured by gravity and straps that tied down to the trailer bumper. Unable to find anything online. In hindsight, should have followed unit and talked to owner.
If you know of online link or any other lead, would appreciate it.
Safe travels, Dan

Something like this?
www.etrailer.com/Spare-Tire-Bike-Racks/Hollywood-Racks/HRSR1.html

In looking at this closer I see this in the description,"Note: This bike carrier is not intended for use on spare tires mounted on trailers." I believe they mean a tire that is directly mounted to a trailer (like Scamp does) that wouldn't be as strong and may fatigue the mount. Although my preference would be a receiver mounted rack this would probably work just fine given the strength of the Escape tire mount and reasonable bike weight.
