That's GPS in general: it's extremely useful, but it is unwise to depend on it being continuously available. I met a guy with a custom-built car who was using a dash-mount GPS unit as his speedometer, because the transmission he had used was not compatible with the speedometer that the car already had - clever, and effective, but it's a good thing that the driver doesn't depend on a continuously available speed indication. I actually use the GPS more than the stock speedometer for speed indication in our motorhome, mostly to get a good km/h reading (since the speedo is in MPH).
If GPS-derived speed helps that's great, but there is no chance that I would want a vehicle stability system to depend on it.
