FYI to all those looking at a new hitch for your 5 TA. Just made my inaugural trip in our 2016 5 TA with a Toyota Tundra double cab 5.7 litre/ 6.5 bed. Used the Demco Hijacker Double Pivot 16 K hitch installed by Cap-It in Victoria. Excellent performance, smooth ride and very quiet. Considered many over the course of the last year but liked the custom fit, quiet ride and versatility. Worth the money.
I know this an old thread but was wondering if you could give an update on how your Demco Hijacker hitch is holding up?
I just picked up one of these from craigslist. It looks to be in good shape.
There is some up and down movement in the jaws but almost no side to side movement. Is that normal or should I replace the pins? Are there any other wear parts that I should check?
All the rubber parts and pivot pins are like new and the linkage works smoothly.
I tried ordering a new hitch from both Andersen and Demco. Both are back ordered 6-8 weeks out. Too close to my completion date for comfort.
I'm hoping this used Demco will do the job for towing the 5.0ta.
