Re: Disappointing mileage

I found it on my Ford F-150 by looking at the rpms at any given speed. On the flats at 57 mph (sans trailer) my truck runs at 1500 rpm. That's the same rpm/speed when I tow the trailer. Above that the rpm doesn't go up a lot (sans trailer), but when I'm towing...wooo doggies!

Re: Disappointing mileage

Just finished calculating the mileage for our return trip towing our new 19. It may not be a fair comparison since the two vehicle, 2009 Tacoma, was loaded to the gunnals with our daughter's stuff that we picked up in Victoria. Overall, the mileage with the load and the 19 was 16.09 miles per Imp. gallon or 13.40 per US gallon. As I said, this is likely not a good measure of the mileage since we had approximately 800 extra pounds of stuff on board plus three adults. We tried to average between 60 and 65 mph which is where the Tacoma seems to get the best mileage. Going up those huge hills in the Fraser Canyon, however, really takes a toll <g>.

Wow! 19.5! I am jealous. I know we are not going to do that well.

Re: Disappointing mileage

The MPG we get with our 19ft Escape and our 5.7V8 Tundra is 12.3 to 12.6.

We are pulling our 19 on a holiday as we speak, our tow vehicle is a 2011 GMC Seirra 4X4 crew cab with the 5.3 engine, 6 speed transmission and are averaging just over 16 mpg (Imp) with cruising speeds at 110 kph, I know we get better at 100 kph but we are in Alberta. This also included going through the mountains.
