Thanks Parker. I thought I remembered reading that someone had one of the bars pull out of the holder when trying to cut sharply when backing up -- but my old brain could be remembering poorly (yet again)

I suppose it's possible to install the L-brackets in such a way that a really tight turn could have the outside bar drop off the edge. If installed within the dimensions in the instructions, I can't imagine that would be possible. But stranger things have probably happened!

I don't know the origin of the idea of removing it (the bars, I guess) for backing, but nothing like that is required. I think the removal idea comes from external sway control units that may have limited travel.
Although the bar ends are essentially the same, the heads of the E2 and the Equal-i-zer are quite different.

Old or not, I think you're right.

I think that's it, and it likely occurs if the brackets shift, or if they are installed in a less-than-ideal location due to interference with other stuff on the tongue (such as propane tanks). It's only likely when backing up, because the tug-trailer angle can get sharper when moving in reverse.

We own the e2

Very happy with it.

Denis at Escape has it and likes it the best, from what he told us.

He is the hitch expert there.
