I thought all Ford F-150 4x4 come with 36 gallon tanks? I know mine did. I guess you're looking for a 4x2?

The 36 gallon tank is an option but not standard. We ordered it with our 4x4.

That's the difference then, because I didn't order my truck just bought off the lot. But all the 4x4s I saw had 36 gallon tanks.

My '16 Lariat 4WD , bought off lot, has the 23g tank. Not a problem to me as I have to stop to use facilities way sooner than having to fill up with gas.

Agreed, my tank is only good for about 250 miles before dumping is required....matches my gas consumption also....

Yes, but I find it nicer to stop at a nice rest stop along the way, take a break by a river, rather than pit stops at a fuel station.

Going from the small tank in my Pilot, to the large 36 US gal (136,27 litre) tank in the F150 is fantastic. I love the extra range.

BTW, I just fuelled up a couple days ago, with the range to empty just turning to 0 km before I got to the station, and it took 131.5 litres of gas, so I actually had almost 5 litres left in the tank. Good to know.

Unfortunately, rest stops by the river are far outnumbered by fuel stations along the US Interstate system.

True. We avoid interstates unless we're trying to get somewhere quick. It's just as Charles Kuralt once said: "Thanks to the Interstate Highway System, it is now possible to travel from one end of the country to the other, without seeing anything."

Maybe you're so close to the border that you're thinking of the Canadian specs, as explained earlier?
But seriously, the equipment choices may have changed over the years.

Just wish though that they made the countdown to zero KM left to E actually have a fourth digit. Filled up on our very first trip in Beaudette MN, and I noted it said 999 left, well it didn't go to 998 until just before reaching our son's home in Thunder Bay some 430 km later. Do like not having to fill up as often though

Just to close the loop, I placed my order today with a local Ford dealer. Finally decided on a 2017 4x4 Lariat 3.5EB w/10-speed transmission; 3.55 e-lock rear end, 6.5' bed, Max tow package (includes 36 gal. tank & brake controller). Splurged and added electric, folding tow mirrors and both side steps and tailgate step. Thanks once again to each of you for your valuable contributions on this thread!

Sounds like a two year newer version of my truck. Congrats, it will do you great.

BTW, I asked the New Truck Manager how long the wait would be; his reply: "I have no idea." Oh well, bound to be off the line before the 5.0

Yeah, you'll get a chance to break it in before you pick up. If I'd had a couple more months to wait for the trailer, I'd have ordered the truck too, and there might have been a few things I'd have added. As it was, the truck made it to the dealer a couple days before we had to head to Canada for the trailer. Here's hoping you aren't sweating it as much as we were.

If you can buy a 2016 off the lot that fits the bill right now, you will save a horde of money. I was shocked at the deal I made on my 2015 a year ago now.

No kidding. My dealer told me rebates for 2016 F150's on his lot (about 20 of them) average $3000.00. He checked on the rebates for 2017 models for me and Ford is offering $0.00

I have 12 months to wait for my trailer so I'm not too worried.

I know sticker price does not mean a lot, but I got my truck at $15k CAD less.

The 2017s have a nicer nav system.
