First time setting up our 17b

Towing: From Chilliwack to Merritt. Glad for the Valley Driving lessons, extended mirrors. The Coq went well. Very happy to have lots of tug power... We Didn't push at all ... Some of the inclines dropped quite slow. That was intentional rather than caring about who went wizzing by us. Rained quite hard at various times.

Getting into camp site. (In the rain) We had asked for an easy back-in site. Managed quite well. One thing I wish I had paid more attention to was choosing where to put the little trailer. I got her close to the services, electrical. The site accommodated way larger trailers. We end up having our immediate outside area being quite muddy where other trailers had parked. The grassy/less travelled were over a bit. Good to think about for next time. But this baby ain't moving till we leave tomorrow for Peachland.

Leveling ... The trailer bubbles weren't happy when we got her positioned. So I broke out the shiny red Anderson levellers backed up a bit more and with Liz directing pulled onto the curvy one till Liz yelled stop. And she was perfectly level. Threw down the little green tire stopper thingys which came with the Start Up Kit, Down went the stabilizer jacks onto little yellow plastic things we got at Canada Tire. Hooking up everything else was easy. We had bought Rhino sewer system which fit the CG sewer and capped it off nicely. It will also fit into the black pipe on the 17b. I had bought knees pads which I used. Kept my knees from hurting and I'm glad for them. All this was running around in the rain feeling cold.

Final thing was getting the quick connect to fire up the BBQ. I had gone to a gas/BBQ place and switched out an adapter or regulator (I forget the name). Got the BBQ fired up without blowing myself up which was nice. I can turn the gas on at the trailer quick connect side as well as turn on/off gas + regulate the gas at the BBQ. So r having steak tonight.

My work in the Criminal Justice field got me on the phone with one of Merritt's RCMP
I asked him about Moonshadows. He said the nicest of the 2 CG in town (actually a bit out of town). He recommended other gov campgrounds way prettier (but see paragraph above). He said "there's no crime there" and that he would stay here which were big selling points for me.

Nothing fancy here, nice river, clean bathrooms... And a bit of mud which is fast drying.

You 're about 40 min from Kentucky Aileen Provincial camp ground. It's on the way to Peachland. You will see the turn off 25k up the connector(97c) it's a well posted highway sign. You really should check it out. $16.00 per night. It's dry camping but beautiful.
