Full Size Trucks
I am new to this site and forum and am asking a question that may have been asked before but I did not see the topic. Is there any full size half ton pickup that can be adapted or can the Escape 5.0 be axle raised and towed with a current model half ton such as Chev, GMC, or Ford.
I just not too impressed by the mid size pickup choices and especially the fact that some full size models are virtually identical in price and mileage ratings.
Thanks, Martin D

Re: Full Size Trucks
Escape Artist, thanks for your quick reply. Was the axle height increased by Escape or did you modify yourself after purchase. In either case what was the amount the axle /chassis body distance was increased. Was an axle mounting spacer used or a different down angle axle used.
From your picture the Escape does not appear to be raised enough to really be observable - or look like one of those hi-rig trucks. The entire rig looks great.

Re: Full Size Trucks
Hi: martin d... The axle lift was added by Reace at Escape!!! We bought the whole rig used, as you see it from the original owners. The truck was their 2002 GMC 4.3 ltr. V6 HD susp OD trans. with a Husky 16 roller hitch. Reace needs to know the height of the box sides from the floor. Ours are 51". The axle to my knowledge was raised 2" by brackets on the frame of the 2007 trailer.
We have had the trailer 1 yr. in May and our best mpg. is 20 at 60 mph. in not too hilly terrain.

Re: Full Size Trucks
is your truck a long bed or short bed? I could not tell from the photo. Do you ever tow in overdrive? Thanks in advance.

Re: Full Size Trucks
Hi: gocamp...The GMC is a short box. We have a HD tranny cooler and yes I tow in OD. but if it's hilly I use 3rd. We also have the tow haul trans/button on the shifter so we can use that too!!!

I'm gonna guess, the ones on the back of the bigger trailer, right?

Re: Full Size Trucks
Yes but the Escape is a much nicer looking unit, better built and owned by nicer people.
