Hitch Height

Can anyone tell me the height of the hitch( at the A frame ball) of a 17' b with standard frame? NOT high lift axle.
Thanks
Gary

Check with Escape, but I believe all their tow behind trailers are 19" to ball top.

Thanks, think I'm good with my Tacoma factory hitch and ride height.
Would rather not have to ass around with changes when we pick up in April.

I have had good luck with an adjustable set up, depending on loading sometimes an 1" adjustment makes it ride better. Something like this, I recently purchased, good for 6000#

If 19" is the correct height to the top of the ball, remember that's with the trailer hitched to the tow vehicle. In most cases your tow vehicle will set down 1-2" when the trailer is hitched, so you may need to have the ball at 21" to get the correct measurement. Just have two 200 lb. guys set on the tailgate and then take the measurement, should be pretty close to what you need. In most cases you will need a higher lift drawbar, but all vehicles are different.

Yes, agreed, that what I was intimating in my post the reason for the adjustable, depending on your loaded weight, the 19" number may well be 2 " lower, so you may need a higher set up to tow level.

The ball is at 22' unladen, think I'm good to go.
Worst case.. I'll get a new draw bar at home, or on the road if needed.
Thanks

How much does the high lift axle add to the ball height?

Towing unlevel can cause extreme tire wear, if your are high in the front you are shifting more weight to the rear and sway could be a result, I always thought it was better to be low in the front, if given a choice. either way, up or down the impact on tire wear will be noticed.

hitch length

My Silverado gate bumps into the tongue crank. Been looking for a solution to not being able to open the gate flat when hitched to my 19. It took a while to find one that doesn't extend any farther than needed. Finally found a ball hitch mount with a shaft having a hole for the pin that is longer away (by 1 inch) than the one I originally got. Made by Curt. Rated at 7,500 lbs., max tongue wt 750 lbs. 2” ball, 1” hole.

Yes. Identical. Important when adding the 2" ball is, note its screw diameter. Be sure it is also a match to the 1 inch diameter hole

Good to know the options like extra long hitch ball mount and removable jack to avoid hitting the tailgate, I'll keep a note of it when picking up my trailer.
