Hitch shops?

If I can swing the financing, I think I will be buying a new Rav4 V6. It is rated for towing 3500 pounds without transmission or radiator modifications. The Toyota class III trailer hitch will cost a ridiculous $1100! And I cannot find any information on a Toyota wiring harness.

I guess that I need a hitch, ball platform, ball, wiring harness and brake controller. And then I want to think about these air bags to add rear-end support.

So, where should I get my hauler upgraded for towing? I live in Tsawwassen, but am willing to drive to get to the right place. I want to go to a shop where people know what they are doing and won't try to sell me a bill of goods. Suggestions? Experience?

Re: Hitch shops?

Ron,

My hitch ( class III ), wiring and brake controller were done in my Toyota dealer's shop by a outside guy they use. He installed a Hidden Hitch. Total cost was about $650. Don't think you'll need air shocks. Anyway you might call Jim Pattison Toyota in North Van. The guy they used may travel around.

Re: Hitch shops?

Thought I'd give offer up another hitch option. I called several installers in the Vancouver area and ended up using U-Haul in North Vancouver. Estimates ranged from 1100 to 550. Got a class 3 hitch for my 08 Santa fe, all the wiring incuding the brake controller done for just under 550 including taxes. Nice people - a job well done. Had to wait 10 days for the hitch to come in. I recommend them.

Re: Hitch shops?

Check with Reace for the name of a hitch shop in Chilliwack he was able to get us into when were picked up our new trailer. I can't remember their name but they fit us into their busy schedule and diagnosed our wiring problem very quickly. We were really pleased with what they charged and couldn't have asked for better service.

Hi, I planed to post the guys who installed my 5th wheel hitch when I pick up my trailer this spring but figured if someone is looking for a hitch install before spring.
There are very few installers who have experience installing a 5th wheel in the 2016/17 Colorado or Canyon. I asked around and found a couple of dealers who said they have done installs on several out of the norm trucks; Nissans, Rangers& Colorados. I took mine to the boys @ HITCH PROS in Sherwood Park AB. They took the extra time to measure, document and photo the install to make sure the work was flawless. The extra time was on their dime as it was for everyone's benefit. I have to say I am happy with the clean professional install. So if you are looking to install in the Colorado, give Shawn a call (780)400-8887
