The wheel is only good on smaller trailers where you can move the unit, doubtful with a 21 Escape, get the pad. I have 2 wheels in my garage from other units.

On a two-ton double axle trailer, I think a hitch wheel would be of little value except maybe for very small side-to-side adjustments when hitching up, and those wouldn't be easy. With a foot plate, you better be dead on, side-to-side, when hitching because that foot plate doesn't like to move with 400+ lb of dead weight on it.

You can always get a wheel later, probably at the free table at a trailer rally. The only time I've been able to shift my 17' trailer, using the wheel, was in my carport on a totally flat, smooth concrete slab. Even that took some considerable effort, and if it starts moving, you have to make some effort to slow or stop it.

I always put a section of 2x6 under the hitch wheel and I can make the small changes needed to hitch up easily. A little bump this way or that is usually all it takes. I also have the hitch foot plate - with that on the trailer, you had better be expert at lining up the hitch!

wheels

We have both .I know it would be very hard to move with either foot plate or wheel If an emergency happens and you need to move trailer a few in .or ft .the wheel will come in handy Jim

Hi: vanwinkp... It isn't a "Big wheel" and avail. at most RV stores. I think I have a little used one in my garage that is nearing antique status!!! Alf

I carried a hitch wheel with my 19 and used it a few times. Two guys on a firm packed surface (no loose stones at all) can fairly easily manoeuvre it around on level ground.

I second that. You need the wheel to move trailer up to a flat bed tow truck When your trailer breaks down due unexpected accidence. I keep the wheel in the storage box.
