GM, is moving from Canada to Mexico, I am curious to see if Mexican GM Trucks, stack up with Canadian and American trucks.
Many years ago, when Volkswagen, moved to Mexico, to build Beatles.
The parts of a Mexican Beetle, would not fit on a Canadian made beetle .
Even the Mexicans, did not want the Mexican made cars.

In that case, those BMWs made in the US must be crap.

"I understand the pricey part but ...."

Call me old school but I think anything over $18K is "pricey" to me.

Almost all of the major auto manufacturers export vehicles from Mexico to the US

Decades ago, Mexico greatly restricted automotive trade, so for auto manufacturers it was basically build there or not sell there. VW and Nissan built in Mexico so there were lots of those; Toyota and others did not so those brands were rare when I was there 20 years ago. As an isolated market, VW products built there could be different from the current products from Germany; Brazil was even more isolated and had even more oddball models.

The Canada-U.S. Auto Pact and Free Trade agreements expanded to include Mexico, as NAFTA, and so Mexico became part of the integrated North American auto production system, with parts made in all three countries moving around between countries to assembly plants, and the resulting autos going in both directions across the borders between all three countries. VW products are still occasionally different from those in Germany, because North America (mostly the U.S.) is a different market.

Chrysler, Ford, GM, Mazda, Honda, Nissan, Toyota, Volkswagen all build cars and/or trucks in Mexico. GM has been building pickups in their Silao plant in Guanajuato, Mexico since 1996. They are as well-built or as poorly-built as the manufacturer chooses, as with any assembly location with skilled workers available. Of course individual plants vary: long ago Honda supplied the U.S. east of the Mississippi from their new plant in Ohio, and west of the Mississippi from a plant in Japan, because they didn't want potential buyers comparing the products of the two plants side-by-side... but the Ohio products turned out fine.

I saw that report too, Ed. Noticed the good reviews for the F150 as well as the Subaru Ascent.
