And remember, Robert, steady on, because if you get gas in Oregon you have to let the attendant touch your truck; ; you can't pump your own gas there.

True story. Oregon voters decided that! Sit back and relax. When you leave the fuel island, your hands won't smell like gas and you won't have dribbled fuel on your shoes or down the side of that fancy new truck!

Thanks.

Bill, it is hard calculated in my log book. The onboard computer says I'm currently averaging 24.7 but it keeps increasing because the average mileage when it first initialized was like 8. My speeds are basically whatever the speed limit is or slightly less. I left the radar detector at home -- on purpose. I really haven't noticed much of a difference in mileage whether I'm running 60 or 70. Color me impressed.

Yep, I'm aware of the Oregon law. We won't need gas in Oregon. I filled up yesterday morning in Roswell NM and just this evening in Ogden I decided to fill up again even though I had a quarter tank left. Won't need gas again for at least 950 miles.

I know that sounds unbelievable but that's what 26 mpg and a 36 gallon fuel tank will do for you.

Wait until you cross the border and you're doing 110.
You'll really be impressed.

It is like getting first class service from the old days. I run across it occasionally in small places (outside of Oregon.) What was the reason for the vote? Keeping big business out?

The temp plate has a max of 30 days - BUT you can do it again when the first one expires for an additional $25

Donna, the gas in San Antonio is up to 15% ethanol, and that is what we did the first fill up with. The 2nd was in Roswell and the pump was also labeled as up to 15% ethanol. So, the mileage I've reported so far is with a blend of more ethanol than the Oregon 10% ethanol blend.

Didn't have anything to do with keeping folks employed or big business. It was about convenience. In Oregon we pay less per gallon of gas than our surrounding states (tax). I still notice the folks that dislike someone pumping fuel are from other states. WE like it and we're keeping it.

We found out that in Oregon they will pump your gas but will not wash your windows. Still not quite like the old days. Loren

Interesting: higher taxes than most states, including all the ones surrounding it, and among the highest gas prices in the country. Yeah, take advantage of that cruising range, but don't fill up in British Columbia instead - they make Oregon look cheap!

Good evening everyone. We are in Pendleton Oregon tonight and on to Chilliwack tomorrow. The mileage took a 1.5 mpg hit today. The entire day on I84 we were driving directly into a 40 mph headwind. Semis were swaying like fish! The mileage was still respectable though at about 23.9 mpg.

I can smell Canada....

Robert,
Thanks for the daily mpg results. That's not that bad of a hit for a headwind like that. Air speed had to have been around 100 mph. Please keep the reports coming.
One unusual thing to check that you might not think of, is to check the trailer tire air pressure. Ours was higher than I wanted, leading me to think something was wrong the first day.
