Latest model of Andersen hitch?

Took my 5 year old Andersen ball holder, ball, and the replacement cone material to a machine shop to press together. The Andersen website video showed the factory pressing the parts together until the cone material was even with the top of the holder. The new cone material (being longer) broke out the machined internal aluminum retaining ledge of the ball holder. Think this 2014 version was a poor design as it would have been simple to include a depth marking on the ball stud to show when to stop pressing!

Hope the new design is better......going to try for a warranty claim due to a design defect.

I stopped at the factory in Idaho in 2015 on the way to Osoyoos and they replaced my universal brackets for the better 4" brackets, gratis.

I requested new cone material earlier this year and was sent a new ball assembly and triangle plate. The new ball assembly has a cover to keep the friction material in place.
Just unbolt the old assembly and bolt in the new. Include ball size in your request.

That's what got this started. Requested the cone material two weeks ago and they sent me TWO cones which said to me this was going to be an ongoing maintenance procedure.........

I wasn't going to halfway hitch up my trailer and drive two miles down a bumpy curvy gravel road, then 8 miles to the nearest town where I could "drive around the block" a few times in the hope of seating the ball and cone, as suggested in their video.

August 1st 2019 model of Andersen hitch

Got my parts replaced under warranty today.

The new ball holder version has a retainer cap over the cone, and a much wider cone angle, judging by the smaller bottom protruding stub while the top diameter is the same.

The new triangle plate also has a wider spread for the chain holes. Not sure why the boomerang design unless they got a new CNC version. It's painted steel and looks like aluminum, but it's not.

Charlie,
How hard was it to get replaced under warranty? I have an old one but no idea of my paperwork and the old universal brackets vs the 4" brackets. I may have to make a stop in Idaho next time to Osoyoos.

It was all done by email and phone. They had initially shipped me a new friction cone before without paperwork proof, so had my address. After a couple days of them not returning my phone messages, I posted the broken ball holder story with pictures to their Facebook page, several trailer forums, and emailed customer service again.

They suddenly sent me the parts at no charge.....
