Merry Christmas to Us - New 2016 Ford 150 Tow Vehicle

After much discussion and badgering of Salespersons we bought a new 2016 Ford F-150 4x4 with 2.7L Eco-Boost and more already installed bells and whistles than Santa's Workshop....the most necessary of which was the electric seats so I can see over the edge of the truck whilst driving...when Craig is asleep. Those seats also happen to be heated, which was an unexpected, but pleasant perk. And, of course, my height challenged self also required running boards and the tail-gate step to access the thing when I do get to drive or have to crawl around in the bed looking for things.

It comes with a back-up camera installed for easy single person hitch-up and both sway control and brake controller so we won't have to rob the one in the 4Runner. We also opted for the crew cab so Her Majesty Sky Diva Gypsy Dog would have plenty of lounging space while in transit. And, I absolutely love the color which Ford calls Magnetic Gray.

Nothing like a new toy. I suspect you have to carry the owner's manual in the truck bed.

Sweet Ride! I'm shopping soon so I'll be interested to hear how you like it after a few miles down the road...

Beautiful truck.

But do you even get an owner's manual anymore? Frustrating not to have a paper version to thumb through when a manual is just online and whatever you're trying to learn about is in a trailer or outside or in another room. So very frustrating.

Again, beautiful truck.

Very nice! I love how the back seats fold down in those. (Although I don't want to drive a truck.)

Bobbie....there are paper manuals that came with this....the general manual, the one for the tow package and a separate one for what they call the Sync system which is the display in the center deck of the dash where you can pair your cell phone, access any MP3 or flashdrive music you've put in the USB Port, the Sirrius Radio and a number of other things I've yet to figure out.

Nope...those manuals are gonna stay up-front in the glove box where I can access them when Craig sez "how do you.......".

Josie,
You and Craig are going to love that truck, including the gas mileage when towing. I am looking forward to seeing it this coming February.

Great tow vehicle! Conga-Rats to both of you. I know you will enjoy the great ride afforded by your new pickup.

Safe travels!

I can tell you, you're going to love towing with it. We certainly do. The 2.7L EcoBoost is just plain amazing as a powerplant. Lots of power, small package, great mileage. The towing package and the integrated brake controller are very smart picks as well.

That is, of course, a wise choice until you are almost 2,000 miles from home and the truck displays a message that a "trailer wiring fault" exists and the Ford dealer informs you that the brake module has failed, and further tells you that there are over 600 owners awaiting a new module and the back order date is almost 4 weeks out, with no guarantee that the back order date will be met. At that point you begin to question how smart a pick it is. Don't ask me how I know.....

Then again, sometimes a dealership (for example, the dealership in Durango, Colorado) will go above and beyond and will pull a module from a new not yet sold truck on the lot to help a traveler get back on the road!

Hadn't heard of that problem, Carl. Almost 2 years now and ours is flawless. Knock on wood.
