My new TV!

Took a bus up to Dallas today and returned home in a new 2015 Chevy Colorado LT V6, in cyber gray. It wasn't the only consideration, but the most obvious one in the mid-size bracket. I also looked at full-sizes, but in the end my decision was based on price, fuel economy, tow capacity and size (in that order).
I've only driven it for three hours and im loving this truck. Can't wait to see how it tows!

Sigh, yet another vehicle with more ponies and torque than my Frontier, while getting better mpg.

Besides that, what cab/ bed combo did you choose? Are you thinking shell or tonneau cover?

Crew cab, short bed. Surprisingly roomy in the rear seats, more so than a double cab Silverado. I would have preferred the long bed but my wife prefers maneuverability. I absolutely want a tonneau cover, but shy at spending another 500 - 1k. Any suggestions?

Personally like my Bakflip G2 but there are a ton of great choices out there.

Like Bruce, I have the Bakflip G2 and really, really like it. Tonneaus are a different story for those of us towing 5ers and the G2 fits the bill for me

I have a hard fiberglass tonneau manufactured by ARE. They are molded to match the hood of the truck and custom painted to match the color. They have various grades but the top of the line was $1500.00. Anyway, it doesn't leak water but some dust gets in. Loren.

Being on the cheap side I went with an Extang Trifecta. Working just fine, easy on and off.

They have quite a few that fit the Colorado from realtruck.com. Has anyone ordered from them? I see some very decent ones for under $300. I will also look at craigslist.

Got an Extang #7445 roll up Tonneau bed cover, $325 plus tax. Easy install. Works fine, keeps the frost out. Chose the snaps instead of the velcro fasteners.

Reached my best mpg numbers yet returning home from the Bluebonnet Rally, non towing. For 125 miles I was averaging around 26 - 28. Can't wait to log some tow mileage!

So, after considering the cheap vinyl tonneaus, I decided to spend the money on something more secure and durable. Of course, looks matter too.

I got the 2015 Colorado model from Peragon. I must admit, the installation was long and tedious. But I do really like it. If anyone is interested I might add a review.

I put the Peragon on my Frontier a couple of years ago. Love the cover but that install was a bit tedious! Had to do it all over after a body shop took it off after some fender bending.

Hey Daubsy...

Have you done any towing yet? Are you happy with it as a tow vehicle? What kind of mileage are you getting while towing?

Thanks!!

Dolly

Some new vehicles require a break-in period prior to towing. You might want to consult your manual or dealer.

Hi Dolly. I think it performs well for a "mid size" v6. I have towed 1260 miles so far and averaged 16.5 mpg, mostly highway and some city. A lot of these were hard miles too, going up steep grades in Washington and Oregon, and winding roads in North Cali. It still has pretty decent acceleration going through these high mountain passes, but I can definitely feel it working. Im really enjoying the 4 wheel disc brakes as well.

If i had $20k+ more to spend, I probably would have bought something else. But overall its a great tow, especially for the price, and im very happy with it.

That's not bad Sean. We get about half a mile per gallon less than that.
