Thanks for your replies. I was thinking of mounting the 7 pin ahead of the wheel well due to my truck having a step at the front of the box. I guess I should either put off installing the plug until I have the trailer or install it near the rear. It just seemed like a good project while waiting for June to roll around and I am sure once I have the trailer I will have plenty to occupy me. Ronn

Keep in mind the cord exits out the rear of the pin box. I myself find it easier to have at the rear by the tailgate. Connect the trailer, connect the cable and close the tailgate. If you mount ahead of wheel well not sure if you would have enough length or if cable would catch/bind on things as you turn.

I visited Trademasters in Chilliwack in October. They gave me a quote for my truck. You can give them a call and they can give you a quote based upon your truck and it’s specs. They told me to call them two weeks before we arrive to set the date. They will install it one day and we can go to the orientation the next day. I suspect it’s will take a few hours and I will wait on it. They also said we are free to buy the basic Anderson hitch elsewhere (I may be able to get a better price in the US and bring it with us). They will provide and install the under bed bracket, turnover ball and additional 7 pin connector if desired. They seemed very professional and are very familiar with Escape.

I don't have a 5.0 to measure the diameter of the power cable for the trailer, but I did measure my Casita and it is 9/16". My new 2019 Ram 1500 on each lower corner of the tailgate and between the bed floor there is enough room to run the cord there with the tailgate shut, thus you would not have to run the power cord over the tailgate.

🤔That might limit future options in case you decide on hard tonneau cover or tool box or combination there of. Where I mounted mine it’s easy enough to get to.

Seems like that would be a pia to feed the plug thru the partially opened tailgate down to the bumper connector. You also have the plug exposed to sand water spray and other road debris that doesn’t happen in truck bed. Thinking you would get chaffing of chord also. The in bed connection is maybe an hour to install, if you never did 1 before.

Thanks for the picture Cliff and to everyone for their input, I will be placing it in the back of the box and now will be able to have it done prior to picking up the trailer. Ronn

First you will have to let down the tailgate to hitch and unhitch the trailer so your tailgate is down to start with, where is the problem here, I guess its laying the cord on the bed floor by the corner where the tailgate meets. Remember I'm looking my new 2019 Ram pickup, other may not have this wide of opening in the corner and may not work.

Little bit of work up front save lots of aggravation latter. And your plug stays clean too😎
