New Tow in anticipation of new 5.0

I have a new to me tow in anticipation of our upgrade to a 2019 5.0 TA. Saved a bit by goin slightly used. 2017 Tundra Crew Max with the Platinum trim level. 21,500 mile on her but that is nothing for a Tundra. Pretty happy so far. I'm thinking the white truck will go well with the trailer.

Build Date on 5.0TA is Jan 23, completion April 23rd.

I think your new vehicle will do the job just fine, I to just upgraded my 2017 Honda Ridgeline to a new 2019 Ram 1500 4x4 crew cab for my upcoming new trailer, haven't yet decided on the 5.0 or the Elite 23, but were checking them all out, including Oliver and Bigfoot. When it comes to a full size pickup, it hard to go wrong with any of the big four trucks out there today.

Anderson Ultimate with the gooseneck ball so I can have a clean bed when not towing.

Great looking truck! We share your excitement, we bought our white Ram in July and ordered a 5.0TA which will be complete next week. Since we will be driving from Texas we aren't going to pick it up until April, don't want to deal with snowy mountain passes. Maybe we'll see you in Chilliwack!

beautiful truck too! i have the same hitch set up and love it easy to hook up. i had my chains put on reverse they are attached to the bed of the truck so i don't have to climb into the truck bed to attach them i keep them hook on the side of the truck then just attach to the trailer when towing. works for me because I'm short and cant reach all the way into the truck bed.

One of the drivers behind this choice is not only Tundra reliability / quality, but the Platinum has ventilated heated/cooled seats. My SO does not like air blowing on her and we have different preferences for cabin temp. I'm hoping this feature will reduce the main area of conflict we have while underway.

Thanks! I'm not a fan of excessive chrome so I like that the grill is more understated on this trim level. Good idea with the chains!

Will you be at the rally again? We are slated for the Thursday wine tour.

Have a white 2010 Tundra 5.7 litre double cab with the 6.5 foot bed. FYI the double cab gives you a bit longer bed. The truck performs flawlessly with my 5 TA and has only 36000 miles on it. Getting ready to take it again this winter for our annual pilgrimage to the the deserts in Arizona and California. Our Tundra is white like yours and complements nicely the white trailer. We get lots of comments on the look. Enjoy your truck. Good choice.

Good to know! BTW we just had a fun weekend in Victoria. Took the Clipper up on Thanksgiving and stayed at the Grand Pacific hotel. Took in the Egypt exhibition at the Royal BC museum. Fun getaway with off-season bargains! Cheers!

You will have to check the specs but usually around 1500.

Hi Jake, Right you are. I just got around to looking at the door sticker. Payload is rated at 1,190 lbs. 60 less than you guessed. We are not large people nor is our dog so we should easily have enough capacity for the pin weight + ~ 200 lbs of stuff. I guess all the power do dads like the seats, steering wheel, power folding mirrors, etc take their toll!

Mine is a more basic model. You are right though: The higher the trim level the lower the payload.

Our Ram has a payload capacity of 1300 lbs
When I added up the 5.0 pin weight , hitch weight , the weight of 2 passengers and our dog we were at or over our payload limit .
Evidently my wife and I need to go on a diet and loose weight or fill the trailer with helium .

Yes, and the Tundras in this discussion also have different cabs; a CrewMax will be heavier than a Double Cab, so unless the CrewMax has a higher GVWR it will have a lower payload, all else being equal.

Great truck for the 5.0 TA I have a 2012 4x4 dbl cab 4.6 l with an Anderson hitch and it is a great match for the trailer. You do have to be careful of payload and how you load the trailer....unless you are full timing how much stuff do you need My truck has around a 1200 lb payload and I carry a honda 3000 is generator and a 30 gal water tank(sometimes full) in the front of the bed and I still have plenty of spring rate left. No I have not had it weighed but been around pickups all my life hauling things...I know when a truck is overloaded and this one is not! Enjoy your new ride and your new trailer when you get it.
