One up bike rack

I don’t pay a lot of attention to bike racks because I don’t ride much anymore. But today I went to Dicks Sporting Goods to get a couple things and saw the rig pictures. It was a Specialized Fat Boy Bike in a two place One Up Rack. I took pictures of the extension that allowed it to mount behind the spare tire on its Jeep. Looked like a great setup and was plenty wide for the fat boy tires.

Be very careful. I picked up a Surly LHT frame for a bike for my wife and built it up. After a year or so she noticed the little sticker on the chainstay. It says " Fatties fit fine". It's referring to wide tires of course and came with the frame.

Try explaining that to her.

Also note in the 2nd & 3rd photos with the extension, that is the rack for a 1 1/4" receiver adapted to a 2". Most of us get the 2" model rack since that is the receiver size on Escapes. I would be nervous that the 1 1/4" with adapter would allow too much movement on the back of a trailer. My 2" is so solid it acts like it is welded to the bumper.

I must say the black anodized version looks pretty sweet. I thought about it at the time but couldn't justify the additional cost.
