Re: Picking up a trailer, tools and supplies
Congrats on your new Escape. Before you invest in a WDH which you may not need may I suggest this. Tire Factory Stores sell active Suspension, installed it is the same price of a WDH. I have this suspension on 2 of my pickups. It is a spring setup hooks on the rear spring hangar to the spring center pin. Once it is set no adjustments are needed. You truck will not settle any. Over the years people have said I need a new pickup this one can not haul what I want. After they installed this suspension on their current pickup they did not need a new one. Here is the web site www.activesuspension.com.

Re: Picking up a trailer, tools and supplies
Eric, good for you! It is especially nice to know that it towed well even in such awful weather. I am sure you were glad to get home safely.
"Turtle" is one of my favorites and "Flying Turtle" in Hawaiian, Honulele, sounds even better. You could get graphics for that! I have seen sea turtle graphics.
You might want to do a weighing before you load it up just to know the dry weight.
Hope you get to have a nice camping trip soon under good conditions.

Re: Picking up a trailer, tools and supplies
Hi Holo,
I picked up our new 17B about a hour after you pull out of the yard.Nasty weather to maiden a trailer wind and driving rain. But after a bout 20min on the hi-way I almost forgot it was there. I had to check the mirrors to remind my self there was a trailer in tow. The 06 Tacoma has power to spare even on hills. Although I may put a air bag lift in the rear to level out about a inch. The 05 and 06 are missing a leaf spring in the rear compared to 07 and later and it is noticeable with some weight on the hitch.Where heading up to Penticton this week end , hope the Crows Nest #3 is free of snow.
Mike

Re: Picking up a trailer, tools and supplies
Chuck,
I just read Mike's comment about a lack of a leaf spring in my tow vehicle so your suggestion of an Active Suspension will be looked into! Thanks, guys.
I tried to post a reply earlier with a photo but it got lost somewhere. I did go to Additional Options and attached a resized photo but never saw the post again.
If this post doesn't have a picture, I need help! Anyone?
Eric

Roadmaster Active Suspension, rear leaf spring suspension, simple ...
www.activesuspension.com/
Roadmaster Active Suspension, (RAS) the ultimate assist for vehicles with rear leaf spring suspension. Look at this product. I have it on both of our Tundra trucks.

Re: Picking up a trailer, tools and supplies
Picture turned out fine, I think you got the same decal color as we did...good taste in colors even your truck is the same color.
Where did all the snow on your trailer come from.? All we got in Richmond is 3" of rain.
That active Suspension gadget look pricey

Re: Picking up a trailer, tools and supplies
So Chuck, you seem to like the RAS. Did you install it yourself and was it as easy as the ads say? It has received a lot of good reviews and looks simpler than a WD hitch.
We got snow on Monday night. The Oregon coast got a lot more...3-8 inches! Weather guys called it a cyclonic storm...not very common.
I found that Signs Now, a franchise in the Portland area, does vinyl lettering etc. for reasonable prices. Got our name printed for $15, minimum charge. Since it was a minimum order he did four copies! Now I have to get three more Escapes!

Re: Picking up a trailer, tools and supplies
I did not install the suspension myself. I had The Tire Factory in Battle Ground,Wa do it. They sell the suspension at their shop. I have it on a 2000 Tundra and a 2007 Tundra. At one time I owned a 2002 Ford F250 had the suspension install on it.
Now the decal sets do they all have your name on them?
