Given that a 2" X 4" is not 2" X 4", I just ask for a stick.

Hi: gbaglo... It's about the only fire wood you can haul into a campground no matter what kind of mileage your getting.
If they ask me how long I want them I say "For a long time I'm building a house".
Got 6.8 L/ 100 Kms with the Focus running 110 kph w/ 3 adults and luggage.
Trouble is it won't tow our 5.0TA!!! Alf

Yes, I'm in Alberta too, and the use of time to describe traveling distance is familiar... but of course we use hours and minutes, the same units shown on our clocks. My odometer doesn't show miles (okay, the one in my motorhome does) and the gas pump doesn't show gallons (of either kind).

Of course various units are used, and often it is those which are familiar, rather than those which most sense objectively. The special challenge with gallons - and thus miles per gallon - is that often it is not clear which "gallons" are intended, and it's a significant difference. The title of this thread is "Pickups with 31 mpg"... you have to look at Steve's location (Washington) to guess US gallons.

The advantage of such confusion is that you are already stunned while contemplating the size of the 2 X 4 that's about to hit you.

Hmmm,
I wonder why ETI's spec's on their website are not in the Canadian metric system, their prices are but not the measurements?

Up here steaks are advertised by the pound, but sold by the kilo. Or is it vice-versa?
No charge for befuddlement.

Pickups with 31 mpg

Just to help keep this thread off topic. I was at a restaurant the other day and ordered a porter, the young lady asked if I wanted a pint (didn't know beer came any other way) I said yes and asked if it was 20 ounces to which which she said no its 18 ounces. I told her that a pint was 20 and not changeable. She checked and my son and I got a couple of samples, you guessed it 2 ounces.

Cheers
Doug

Or going to the grocery store seafood display and see the shrimp etc is a good price. Then you realize it's per hundred grams!

When is a pint a pint?

More than half of Vancouver bars may be hosing us with smaller pints: Sun investigation (with video)
