Prodigy Brake Controller

Hi;

We just picked up our 17B yesterday (Yeah!) and would like some feedback regarding the brake controller. We are towing with a Toyota Tacoma 2.7L engine & using a Prodigy brake controller. At first setting out, the brakes were fine. After about 1.5 hrs, the brakes started feeling "jerky". We traveled freeway about 20 miles (Chilliwack to Sumas), then switched to a secondary road at Sumas continuing south down to Rte 9, WA state. The brakes began to feel jerky somewhere on the secondary roads. Using the manual lever on the controller was smooth, however, using the truck brake was "jerky/too sensitive". Any suggestions?

Check the boost button on top and make sure it is not displaying b1, b2 or b3.
I found it is easy to hit that button and bump up the boost setting, then when
you touch the brakes the trailer brakes grab pretty hard.
With the trailer vehicle combination you have I wouldn't use any brake boost.

ps:- I noticed when you hold down the boost button to activate the reversing
option sometimes the brake boost goes up, just a quick check once you have backed
up is always a good thing.... I found out by the end of our first trip.

Thanks Doug. Reace had set the boost at b2 when we left Escape, thinking it might need the boost until the brakes had seated. Curtis just took it around the block, turned the boost off and lowered the setting from 6.0 to 5.5 and it's performing much better.
