Our Taco V6 4dr 4x4 is rated at 6300 lbs towing and handles the 21 (loaded at 4200 wet) just fine in the Cascade Mountains. No problems in Utah, either.

Thanks Charlie. Auto trans? Think I'm going to go for it. Actually looked at an rv (as in motorhome) the other day, glad the turkey endorphins wore off before I did something really dumb!

I have a 2013 Tacoma with 4WD, automatic transmission, and the towing package. It pulls my 21 very well. I'd reconsider it for a tow vehicle only if I were planning on going over high mountain passes frequently, and then only because of concern that the engine would wear out prematurely from high revs.

Yup auto trans. The v6 auto is geared differently than the 4 cyl and it works very well. I use cruise control on the low grades/flats, too.
