Yes, both Ford and GM heavy pickups and low end of medium duty trucks (F-SuperDuty Silverado/Sierra HD) are new generations for 2020, both with new engines and each with their own heavier-duty version of the Ford/GM 10-speed (Allison-branded in the GM case).

I tow 5.0ta with 1/2 ton GMC Denali with 6.2 eng. Towed from Tracy ca. to Everett Wash and back. 2400 miles with some non towing milage. Averaged 15 to 16 mph and enjoyed the power.

It is amazing the power the 6.2 puts out at a fairly low rpm, sure makes for effortless climbs up long hills. Mine is also a daily driver which isn’t hard to take.
I’ve noticed that there’s not a lot of discussion about the 6.2 in the GMC here, guess that’s because there’s not much to complain about [emoji6][emoji6][emoji6].

I've noticed that also. Maybe it's the echo boost that fools people. The 6.2 shuts down 4 cylinders when 8 isn't needed. I use the tow/haul mode when towing. Not sure but think it changes shift points.

Wait until you have to do a tune up, my Ram Hemi also shuts down to 4 during "eco" mode. I was told that tune ups are a bit expensive as there are 2 plugs per cylinder, 16 plugs per tune up. Fortunately I do not have to change plugs for 100K so I'm good for awhile. Also the Ram's tow mode activates engine braking going down hills where it locks in a lower gear automatically.

GMC also has the downgrade assist. Tuneups will cost a lot no matter what gas engine now a days.

no personal experience, but I've heard that a lot of engines with '100k mile plugs', you really should change them around 60k miles as the spark gaps are quite eroded by then.

i was dreading having to do this on our 2001 Ford E150 w/ the 5.4L 'triton' but we never made it past 48k miles, before it was totalled in an accident. on those E150's, you have to drop the motor to access several of the spark plugs, although a mechanic did tell me you could just partially lower it without completely disconnecting it and squeeze in to get the 2 'inaccessible' plugs.
