Tacoma redesign

I've been anxiously awaiting the redesigned Tacoma that supposed to hit the dealer lots soon and heard rumblings at the Osoyoos rally about a diesel and small block v-8 to follow. Anybody hear something on this? I'm wanting a new truck but would gladly wait awhile for one of these.

The Tacoma's I saw on the Canadian lots seemed to have the looks of the new trucks coming out soon down here. I'm wondering if you folks up north got the jump on us. Any Tacoma rumors?

Greg

I believe the Nissan Titan is coming out this fall with a resign and a diesel available in the HD version. It sounds like a very impressive truck and would make a great TV for any Escape. I haven't heard of any diesel for Toyota?

Toyota's going to lose their edge if they don't get with the program. I like the Tacoma 4.0L and it tows my 19 just fine but a little more oomph would be nice, esp since we're contemplating a 21 or 5.0TA.

Even Ford is talking about jumping back into the market they once dominated but gave up on. I had an unbroken string of 7 Ranger/Mazda trucks going back to 1978 and jumped ship to Toyota the day after they announced they were killing the Ranger off. I'll wait and check out the Nissan. A friend has one and its a great looking small truck.

No full-sized truck for me.

Toyota diesel looks unlikely for North America. Don't forget about the twins!

Scuba mentioning the Titan kinda derailed the thread intent.

Titan/Tundra are both full size trucks. The only "small" truck I know of coming with a diesel is the Chevy/GM Colorado/Canyon twins, as Daubsy said above.

Not to me, I was thinking as much power plant as manufacturer. The small truck market lacks anything bigger than a gas V-6 and there's plenty of discussions about towing 21's and 5.0's. I think our rv niche is full of folks who stay with the smaller is better philosphy.

With rare exceptions, we get everything later than the U.S.

The "new" Tacoma looks so much like the "old" Tacoma that I can't be sure that I would know which was which if I passed one on the road. Given my interest in vehicles, that's saying something...

I asked how soon I could see one while getting an oil change in Grande Prairie, AB, and they told me not until October...
