Strangely, I don't see this in a Transport Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Recall database search for 2014 GMC Sierra or the NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation database search for 2014 GMC Sierra... although there are a dozen or more for this make/model/year in each database.
Sometimes a manufacturer will send out a notice to owners asking them to bring in vehicle for inspection and possible repair, or pre-emptive work, without a government recall being issued (yet).

It does seem unlikely that the Sierra and Silverado (of the same range - e.g. 1500 - and features) would have different hitches or bumper structures. There can be a substantial delay between groups of vehicles in a recall, for various administrative reasons. Often there is a U.S. recall long before the corresponding Canadian recall, but this may be in the opposite order.

I ran my vin and nothing came up. Might be for just a certain run of trucks. My truck was built in late Nov. or early Dec. 2013. Loren

The campaign is certain 2014 and 15 light duty trucks with Z82 option. something to do with the welds on the hitch. We have changed a ton of them and have not seen any failures yet. Seems like a Vin specific campaign so owners should be notified if their truck is effected .

Various online discussion suggest that this 'customer satisfaction" campaign - identified as N150036 or 15036 - is internal to General Motors, so it is not a recall reported to Transport Canada or NHTSA. GM seems to be pre-empting a potential problem, rather than reacting to a history of failures; that's good and responsible business operation.
Z82 is simply the towing package, consisting of the hitch and wiring (and locking diff for those trim levels that don't already include it); any of these trucks with a factory hitch has regular production option (RPO) Z82. It's hard for me to imagine buying one of these trucks without the towing package, and it's standard equipment on all but the lowest trim levels anyway, so it should cover most Silverado and Sierra trucks in the affected period.

I agree. Perhaps all the negative press and financial losses they suffered by not reacting to previous issues makes them more cautious.

Got the hitch replaced today...The service manager said he didn't see any problem with mine but they are sending the old parts to be inspected.
