tongue weight 5.0

haven't measured mine but wondering what the approx tongue weight is on a newer loaded 5.0 ? the closet door sticker says 900 pds is that the max weight or actual weight seems heavy i thought it was around 600 pds. ?

I believe the correct term is "Pin" weight as hitch pin vs tongue weight....just saying. I believe the range has been 600-900 lbs for the 5.0 TA 2ndG models, wet vs dry.

Hi: Fox hunt... I thought it was to be a %'age of the max wt. in the range of 15-25%. Not sure how that computes in new math!!! Alf

Yes, the fresh tank is behind the axles whereas the grey and black are in front of the axles.

2014 5 ta

I just did my pin weight and it was 683 pounds.
Trailer was very loaded for camping with wine, beer, food, full propane tanks, clothing, and about 1/3 fresh water and 1/3 black.

i am not sure, how much more the newer generation 5 TA's weigh.

Glad to see you have your priorities straight - wine, beer.

There is a big swing in pin weight depending on the state of your holding tanks. I've had mine as high as 750 lbs +/-, and it could go heavier, I;ve not weighed it with a full black and empty fresh. If you are concerned about the weight don't let the black get much heavier then the fresh.

So on a 5th wheel, is pin weight part of your truck's payload?

Yes, it is the trailer weight xferred to the truck when you connect.
