Tow 17b with Santa Fe v6?

I just ordered a 17b hoping I can tow with my Santa Fe doesn't have factory tow will have to add hitch etc.? Can I go to a hitch shop and have it done? I also have a ford 250 that is all set up I use it to pull my horse trailer but I was hoping I could also tow with the SantaFe.

My buddy tows his 19 Escape with a Santa Fe.
He had the hitch and brake controller installed at U-Haul for considerably less than factory.
Not sure about transmission cooler, HD alternator, larger radiator. Those are items to consider.

Is it a 6 cyl.? Your owners manual should have tow limits for your vehicle. If not, check with the Hyundai dealer you bought it from.

My research indicates a max of 2,300 if you have the standard Santa Fe without tow package and 3,000 with. In both cases you might want to be looking at a different tow vehicle if buying a 17B.

I tried it with a 2011 Murano; 3.5 V6. My new Highlander is far superior. Wouldn't spend the money on a hitch & wiring from my experience. Use the truck.

We do. Have a 2012 Santa Fe Limited which includes tow package. The next model below did also. If you look under on the back left you will see two capped plugs for installation of lights. You will need to have a power charging cable and wiring for brake controller installed. Without the tow package you lose a lot of tow capacity. The 6 would be minimum for our 15b and a 17. The new larger Santa Fe s have 5000 tow capacity. Frankly, after having the Santa Fe I would look at Toyota.
