There was apparently some miscommunication between Toyota people who know what they're doing and Toyota dealership people who have no clue.

I so agree with you Brian. You should have seen what we went through when we couldn't get the [integrated] brake control display to appear on the dashboard screen -- which the manual told us we needed in order to set the gain control. One and a half hours of calls to two separate dealerships before we finally received a call-back from someone who knew what we were talking about.

The front windows on my 2011 truck would mysteriously open up
which is not good if rain is predicted
I called three dealers and the factory and no one could tell me why . The answer I got was that I need to check and close my windows .
I was at the local garage one day ( Town pop 82 ) and mentioned the problem to the mechanic . His reply was “ I know what that is , it’s a quirk with your key fob and he was right
Seems the manufacturer thought it was a nifty feature until they discovered it wasn’t and changed the program after a couple months . There is no mention of it in the owners manual

It amazes me how the same vehicle on one forum is the greatest thing since sliced bread and on another forum it is the worst thing ever foisted upon the driving public .

It seems that progress advances quicker on paper than it does in the field. I had to wait 3 months to make an appt. with a regional mechanic who was able to upgrade my truck GPS, no one in the 3 state area could make the upgrade.

I just towed a 21' from the factory to Albuquerque, NM with a 2007 Tundra 5.7. I do not have a WDH, and I don't plan on getting one. I had zero issues towing the trailer (from a WDH perspective anyway). Advice from Escape was that they typically towed theirs with a F150 and did not use WDH either.
