The pin weight is the challenge. One of the new ones recently posted a 600 pound pin weight. So I have been doing the math of all the things we pack IN the truck. Seems my challenge is not the towing, or how much the truck can PULL. But the weight the truck can handle itself, payload.
Yes, that's a common situation with light-duty trucks ("1/2 ton") and fifth-wheels or even large conventional trailers.
Is there anyone out there currently towing a 5 with the above vehicle, if so how well does it tow?
Is there anyone out there with the above vehicle thinking of getting the 5TA? If so, what are your thoughts on the towing?
Anyone with the above tow vehicle have any thoughts in regards to how it would handle the 5TA?
We have the same tow vehicle for our 5.0 and have trailered with this vehicle for over 20,000 Km. all through Alaska as well as the Southern U.S. We have avg. around 18 mpg towing at or around 100kmph. Really no issues, plenty of power and tow mode allows the tranny to reduce speed nicely on steep down hill grades.
