Towing mirrors for Ram 1500

For my 2009 Ram I purchased a set of Fit System 80710 towing mirrors which fit the stock mirrors perfectly. My 2009 had manual closing mirrors which I had to use to get in/out my garage due to door width. When I traded it in I removed the mirrors and tried to install them on my 2014 Ram Sport which has power folding mirrors, no go. They just will not slip on over the bigger 2014 power Sport mirrors. Anyway I revisited clip on mirrors for my future trip to pick up Prairie Schooner and upon reading reviews of this model it seems they will work, but they need to be modified.
Compounding the issue was a set of vent visors I had installed that the mirrors barely touch when closed.
I got out my trusting power tool and started cutting the plastic around the mirror as well as making the clips a little smaller, viola I was able to get them installed and when closed and open there is no obstruction. Here is the stock picture showing the opening along the bottom for the puddle lamps and turn signals:

As it can be seen in these pictures my range has been extended dramatically and with the narrower 19' I should be able to see the entire length behind me.

Just have to remember to close and open them while entering/exiting the garage.

Thanks Jim.

My 80710's fit like a glove from the get go on my 2014 power mirrors but there is slight contact with door/window when retracted.
