The V6 Toyota Highlander (with tow package) does not have a unibody but still tows well. Many tow the 21 with it without any issues. I think it did a wonderful job with my 17B never had an issue over our mountains. I really like the 4runner too but could afford it when i was buying my Highlander.

I think you mean DOES have a unibody ? Highlander is built on a beefed up Camry platform, and is essentially a FWD car on steroids.

Perhaps someone would want to expound on that?!
Yes, the general approach of the Element's AWD is similar to that of the current Explorer's AWD. As an aside... the Element has been out of production for years, and had been technically stagnant for a long time before that, so it's not an example of modern AWD system performance.

The 4Runner is available with a choice of AWD/FWD systems. In any case, the rear wheels are always driven; the front wheels can be driven at the same speed (locked in 4; H4 or L4 with manual system, H4L or H2L with auto), can share power through a differential (H4F, only in the auto version), can be not driven (2WD selected, only in the manual version). None of this matters much on the road, but off-road the choice can help.
