According to my window sticker, the stock gear ratio is 3:21. Mine came with 3:55. Cruises at around 1800 RPM at 65

I seem to be attracting some attention with this truck too. "Is that a half ton diesel?" Still getting used to using a green pump nozzle. Never thought I'd own a diesel, but I like it. Sure sounds a lot different too.

Thank you. The 3.55 rearend is not available with the Hemi but it is with the Eco Diesel
I had the 3.55's in my 2011 Ram and they are a good compromise between economy and towing capacity ... My 2014 Ram has the 3.92 rear end so I am sure my gas mileage will suffer slightly

So we have a 3:21 and 3:55 and a 3:92 rear ends, it will be nice to compare results.

It is difficult here to get a true picture of MPG 's because it is winter . Our gas mileage at below zero temps is often 20 to 30% below our summertime gas mileage .We will have to do our comparison in the summer or July whichever comes first.

The trip to Osoyoos and return will give me some good data- close to 6,000 miles, hopefully with warmer weather and inexpensive gas.

Where do you find the ratio, I've looked on my sticker and did not find it?

Send an E-Mail to or call Ram customer service and ask for your vehicle's build sheet
The build sheet will list every feature on your truck ( Standard or optional)
If you go to the Ram towing guide it will show you the available rear end ratios for your truck
My Ram 1500 with the Hemi engine is only available with the standard 3.21 rearend or the optional 3.92 rearend

That's the only place you can call and ask what's my rear end ratio.

The EcoDiesel and Hemi engines likely have different operating speed ranges, so with the same transmission different final drive ratios would be appropriate. Comparing the same ratio between different engines won't indicate which ratio if most appropriate; comparing performance and economy between ratios with the same engine (and tire size, etc) could be informative.
