We used the Grand Aero Milenco mirrors in our last road trip covering about 3,000 kms and comparing to the times we towed and not using them I much prefer towing with the mirrors. Without I can see behind the 19 but not as well as with the mirrors where I see vehicles following me much better. Thanks to those who recommended these. They do vibrate a bit but not as much as the others from what I gather. I have had a few folks at campsites ask who makes them - one guy at a stop light while towing also asked.

Towing Mirrors for Tacoma

After reading several comments on towing mirrors, we found a link to 1AAuto.com. Easily navigated the website to find exact replacement mirrors for our 2005 Tacoma. Mirrors arrived in four days from Mass to rural Oregon, which is FAST given the current storms on the east Coast. It took about 40 minutes to install both mirrors. I found the mirrors not as rock steady as the smaller stock mirrors in the normal position but perfectly useable at highway speeds. With the mirrors extended to the trailering position they were a bit more jittery, but this is expected and still stellar in view.
The mirrors are a bit spendy at $240, but the shipping is free.
Here are some pictures of the passenger side mirror:

For those considering the Grand Aero, we found that Costco stores here in the States don't carry them; however, Costco Canada does. We ordered ours on line and had them shipped to the Escape factory (you can buy on line but it has to be for a Canadian shipment). Thus, we'll have them when we pick up in March.

Had a 30min freeway run with the Fit System mirrors and had no issues with them. Two thumbs up.

Would anyone know if this particular replacement mirror has the built-in motorized adjustment function similar to stock mirrors?

Thanks,
Alan

I got a set of these for the Silverado. They fit perfectly, allow the auto folding function and even have a cutout for the puddle lights

I need to know if the aero mirrors (grand or aero2) will fit my 2014 Nissan Frontier. I called the company which makes them and got the aok. The problem was amazon stated the grand aero would not fit. Any Frontier owners out there to offer some help? Thanks

Grand Aero mirrors

Thanks GBaglo for pointing me to those mirrors (can't have a tow mirror discussion in the "back window" thread, now, can we?) and reminding me to look for this thread.

We're new Escapers, having graduated from a Boler, and I'm feeling the lack of visibility. With the Boler, I got so used to seeing right through the front & back windows for my view of the road behind me . . .

I see Amazon.ca sells both kinds -- teardrop & sorta-rectangular -- appreciate comments on one vs other. Incidentally, sold in pairs, at a price not much above double the price of most sold-only-singly mirrors . . . But safety is priceless . . .

Thanks.

If you want to see what's behind the trailer, you could always install a rear view camera on the back, which connects to either a monitor or a rear view mirror attachment in your tow vehicle. Many Escape owners are now supplying these to Escape to be installed during the build, but they're not too hard to install after the fact.

Here's one thread discussing it, which also has links to other threads on the same topic: http://www.escapeforum.org/forums/f8...mera-3007.html

I towed my 17B once without extended mirrors, without incedent, but did not like not being able to see cars behind me. This was especially true in areas where the road had lots of tight twists, turns and hills. Some states, I think, require you be able to see directly behind when towing.

Anyway, I'm simply more comfortable using mirrors and they do come in handy backing into camping spots, (I run solo).

Expensive but these are what I use and they're relatively vibration free.

Hi the milenco mirrors fit our Nissan. We ordered both the teardrop and rectangular mirrors from Costco online. We liked the rectangular type and returned the teardrops to Costco without any issue.

I stupidly lost one of the screws and we ordered a replacement part from a company in England.

We haven't had any issues with the mirrors.

As long as you have the other screw, you can locate a replacement, but rarely at the big box store.
There are those local hardware stores that have been in towns for decades that have it all.
This brings me to an idea: I'm starting a separate thread on those store locations. Now, back to the "towing mirrors" thread already in progress.

You know, when people are in build mode it's hard to stop. Am glad I spoke with Kim when she was still at ETI about the camera and glad we didn't get one. These trailers are small relative to what you commonly see out there and there is really no big need, and arguably they are a distraction. Use the mirrors.

Agreed. We had no issues over 3500 miles towing without seeing what's immediately behind the trailer. Towing mirrors are fine.

Really had to chuckle on this one. The advertised mirrors are mounted to trailering mirrors!
