When Paul was new to the Internet he thought LOL meant "lots of love" and he was puzzled by the forwardness of total strangers!

What's the towing rating of that truck according to SAE J2807?

I agree - context is very important. I generally open topics in this forum from the Recent Discussions list, so I typically don't notice the sub-forum, and based on the title "television" wouldn't have been surprising. On the other hand, that link certainly makes the intent clear. Personal interests are part of context, too: I assumed "tow vehicle" because that's what I'm more interested in discussing.

Really, is it not worth the 1/2 second to type the full name?
That's why I try to always call my truck the Tug

Actually, I sometimes sit outside and look at my TV (tow vehicle) for entertainment, because it is a lot less moronic than much of what is broadcast. And when I have difficulty sleeping, I often use my TV (television) to "tug" me from the land of insomnia to slumberland. So I often utilize my TV. Often, my biggest dilemma is what I will have for dinner, LOL (lasagna or liver). On the other hand, IMHO (in many homeless organizations), the biggest dilemma is whether or not there is enough food available to feed the indigent.

Based on the above reference, we should use "TV" for television and "T.V." for tow vehicle.

I always see ETI and mistake it for "Extra Terrestrial Intelligence". Thus, I just go with "Escape".

No mistaking things that way, for sure. I do the same. I can type Escape much quicker than ETI too.
