Hi Glenn,
We have a 22" Naxa 12v TV with built in DVD player (from Amazon) in our 5.0 TA. It's mounted on a swing arm near the door & can be viewed from the dinette or the bed. It came with the 12v plug and a 120v brick. Works well on 12v with the Jack antenna.

This is yet another acronym I dislike seeing used, TV for Tow Vehicle, especially as there is a much more common use for that acronym, and one still discussed on these forums.

Really, is it not worth the 1/2 second to type the full name?

Acronyms

Jim:
I'm ready to take the pledge. I, Iowa Dave, do solemnly swear to make a conscientious effort to rid my writing of confusing acronyms. I will not even use the abbreviation for Oklahoma when indicating my acceptance of a product or experience. It's going to be hard though, but with the help of the acronym counselors I hope to reform my life and my writing. I will work on spelling and punctuation next. Dated November 14, 2015.

It'll take the, "What the hell do these letters mean?" out of a lot of posts.

Now if we only come up with an acronym for the pledge against acronyms....

LOL. You actually touched on one I don't use. I much prefer the full version of okay, to ok. I think it takes about 1/20 of a second to type the ay on the end.

Context will generally eliminate confusion where an acronym has multiple meanings. For example, if one were to reference, say, the acronym "TV" in a sub-forum labeled "Towing and Hitching", one might reasonably conclude that the author is not referencing an electronic device for viewing moving images with accompanying audio, i.e., a television. When a URL (there I go again) is also provided which, if it were viewed, would give an additional contextual clue, one might be forgiven if it were assumed that his audience would understand his meaning. Obviously my assumptions have proven to be erroneous. Please accept my apologies for the confusion.

Glenn

P.S. Charlie, Thanks for the tip, We have a 21", 12 volt TV, I mean, television. That we're happy with.

Touche! I guess I should have used the smiley instead.

BTW, it is Laughing out loud. Get with it, man.

There are many acceptable acronyms out there. The ones that cause people to be confused (and let's admit it, it is happening more often as we all age) are the ones I am opposed to.

Good guys are always forgiven, Glenn. You gave me a platform to mount my morning rant upon. All is good now.

In newspapers, you are supposed to write the words in full in the first reference, but then you can use just initials in later references in the same article.

This is definitely a good way to do it, where they show the acronym in parentheses right after this first reference. I see some that do in in these forums too, and I like that.

Hi Greg, you have now made the first step to beating this awful disease, by admitting that you in fact have a problem.

Haven't heard that in ages, though have many times in the past. I come mostly from English heritage.
