Weight from the Factory

Search didn't bring up anything definitive.

I'm interested in knowing the exact weight of my trailer as delivered from the factory... before I add one single thing.

Does Escape certify the weight including tongue weight at delivery? Is this an option? Sure I could ask Escape. But, it's early Sunday morning...

Thanks group!

Donna ours came with a label in the wardrobe that states weight, load capacity, etc but I am not sure if it is precisely OUR 17B or the generic 17B weight. I don't think anything is listed about tongue weight. I'll look and take a photo of it later today for you to see what all it lists.

Escape TT did not provide us with the actual trailer weight and tongue weight of the 19' Escape after the build.

Thanks Eric and Brian for posting the images and Jubal... I think that's the answer I was expecting.

So... has anyone ASKED for their trailer to be weighed and received an actual weight certificate? Maybe Escape doesn't want to tow the trailer to a scale because of their liability insurance...

Maybe these are actual weight? I don't think we'll know one way or another til we hear from Reace or Tammy -- or maybe someone here has already asked them about these that are attached to the trailers? It will be good to know. I guess a check would be if someone else's 17B with slightly different options had that same weight - then we would know it is a generic weight.

According to my labels (if I am thinking correctly this morning) my empty weight should be 1027 kg or 2,264 lbs
1590kg GVWR minus 441kg Carry Capacity and minus the stated weight of fresh water in fresh tank and water heater of 122kg?

Hi: Donna D... Our '07 5.0 has GVWR @ 1950 kg. Cargo Cap. @ 590 kg. Tongue load @ 275 kg. Trouble with a trailer on paper is it won't weigh very much LoL. Alf

I'm thinking the images posted are "generic" for the model of trailer because of the language of "range" and "rating."

You might indeed be right -- only thing that makes me wonder is that the AC is optional and that thing has to be pretty heavy and might make a decent amount of difference. Most other changes would be relatively minimal - maybe the refrig size would be next biggest difference?

(Hard to think of other things when you are dreaming of picking up that new beauty isn't it?)

I suspect you are correct, and that the weights given are just as useful as the actual weights would be, since the moment you add pots and pans, the weight given would change and likely never be the same again.

Getting actual weights would require a scale on site or two hours drive time up to the CAT scale in Hope, and back and fees.

Glenn - since you don't have AC - do you know what your 17B lists as carrying capacity? That might give us some comparison to ours.

Well - we have the same except for we have AC and your Carry Capacity is higher than ours. So it isn't just a totally generic rating. But the AC must weigh more than 19kg?

There might be different weights for different years. If so you would have to compare 2 trailers of the same size from the same year with different features to tell if they are trailer specific....or ask Reace/Tammy....

I live 3 miles from a TA truck stop and they have certified scales. The information would be for my own amusement. When I pickup my trailer, I'll just have the bare necessities to camp one night close to the border, then I'll book for home. It wouldn't be that difficult to get it weighed at the TA. I could even unload whatever items I took to Chilliwack (coffee maker!) at home first.

Then, I'll be camping less than three weeks at the Oregon Gathering. I'll be loaded not only for nine nights, but hauling a bunch of stuff for the Gathering. I'd like to get it weighed for a comparison.

Trailer weights are a major topic on the forums. I want to know specifically what mine weighs naked.

Wardrobe specification sheet

The wardrobe spec sheet gives us more information.
I looked at the wardrobe spec sheet inside of our 2013 Escape 19.
The GVWR is 1818 Kg or 4008 Lbs.
The Cargo carrying capacity is 336 Kg. or 740 Lbs.

IF the spec sheet is correct, the weight of this trailer is 3268 Lbs. If the aprox total dry weight on the Escape TT website (2510 Lbs.)is correct the weight of the options is 758 Lbs.
I think I am getting a headache.
