What are people towing their 17b with? What is their experience?

This past Feb/Mar we travelled from Nova Scotia to Florida with a RAV 4. It was 3200 kms there x2 = 7200kms.

My questions for everyone out there towing a 17b - :

What are you towing with?
Do you have a WDH?
What type of gas milage towing?
What is your experience with the wind & your vehicle?
With big rigs passing?
Other towing experience?

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks
Chapi

Do you have a WDH? Yes, Pro Series

What type of gas milage towing? 15 U.S. mpg or 15 L. / 100 K

What is your experience with the wind & your vehicle? Not a problem.

With big rigs passing? Don't notice anything.

Other towing experience? With the 269 hp engine, it is easy to get up to highway speeds even on short on-ramps. That makes for stress free driving.

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks
Chapi
2013 RAV4 can't tow a little red wagon, unfortunately.

What are you towing with?

2010 RAV4 V6 with Tow Package
Do you have a WDH?
Yes
What type of gas milage towing?
15MPG US
What is your experience with the wind & your vehicle?
No problems, although a 50 MPH headwind sure cuts the mileage!
With big rigs passing?
No Problems
Other towing experience?
I've been very happy with the combination. There are times I wish I had the open space a truck would provide for extra stuff & ground clearance for jeep trails, but the 25 MPG unhooked is great.

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks
Chapi

I tow with a '09 Tacoma Crew Cab, 6 cyl, 4WD with factory tow package. No weight distributing hitch. Mileage is 15-16 mpg average. So far have had no wind problems.

I also have a Truck Vault in the bed of the Tacoma, which adds several hundred pounds over the rear axle, but I beefed up the rear springs following a Toyota Service Bulletin a couple of years ago that addressed weak springs.

It's illuminating to weigh your tow rig without the trailer (2 axles only), then with the trailer and all three axles.

My questions for everyone out there towing a 17b - :

What are you towing with? 2010 Nissan Frontier NISMO 4x4 w 4l engine.

Do you have a WDH? What's a WDH!

What type of gas milage towing?

Varies between 14 & 22 L/100km depending on wind and gradient. Never checked while on a long downgrade!

What is your experience with the wind & your vehicle? - No problem.

With big rigs passing? - Occasional discomfort due to noise and dense clouds of water they create during heavy rain.

Other towing experience? - A trailer with a 10ft boat.

From the way the Nissan sits on the road, I know I've got something on the back, but I've always had more than enough power for every situation.

Martin.

Any info would be appreciated.

Towing with a 4 cyl 2007 tacoma. No wdh, just air bags. No issues, I just keep the weight down by not hauling water.

'05 Sienna V6 3.3 liter engine (whatever that means)

I tow the "Suite Escape" on level ground quite easily. I find I have more stability in the wind or when big trucks whiz by when hooked up. In fact I have not been buffeted at all thus far. I also use an equalizer hitch. (A WDH or weight distribution hitch.) I have not kept track of my mileage, and I get bogged down on some uphill grades. My towing experience is very limited. ( One short trip towing a 24' stickie, and a few times towing a 4'x8' box trailer.)

Tow with a Toyota Highlander and WDH. Get 14 - 18 L/100 km. Two weeks ago a large motorhome was traveling ahead of me, and suddenly it veered to the left drastically from a wind gust, which I heard, but could not feel. That's when I knew how well Escape trailers tow!
