Hi: Pioneer...We're towing a 5.0 with a 2" axle lift with a short box 1/2 T. H.D. GMC V6 (2002) The height to the top of the box sides from the floor is 51". We also have a Husky 16K slider hitch but don't need to use the slide part. The trailer clears the cab by 4" on tight turns. Here's a pic take a look.

Re: What's your tug for a 19'
The reason Alf mentioned the box height is that 53" is the MAX from the ground to the top of the box. So, most all full sized trucks (if they are 4x4) are too high. If they are 4X2, then possibly no problem. But, that is the critical measurement. The short box also, as Alf said, may require the sliding hitch. Ours is a long box Frontier, so the hitch is simple. Both of us would say, the 5.0 is a dream to hitch up. Soooo much easier than the regular ball mounted travel trailer. I don't feel guilty about it, but I sure love it!!

Re: What's your tug for a 19'
I'm using a 2004 Kia Sorento for my backup tug on our new 19'. We took our first trip last weekend in our new trailer down to Stanwood in Washington State. The trailer towed beautifully. We have a good equalizer hitch but no anti-sway bar. I bought one but I will not need it as the trailer is solid as a rock, even when passed by a number of semis. The Kia is outstanding as a tow vehicle. It has a full truck frame, four wheel disc brakes, and 4 wheel drive. The 3.5 V6 is adaquate, but I'm sure I will need to watch the weight that I put in the 19. I'm sure this goes for all of us that are towing with smaller vehicles.

Re: What's your tug for a 19'
Hi: All... Speaking of weight I think I need "SlimFast". We stopped at AGRI scales on the way out of town last Fri. for an official weigh-in. YIKES!!! Our G.C.V.W. max. amt. is 9500 lbs. and we tipped the scales at 8900 lbs. Alf

Not sure what Toad weighs. I'll have to do that sometime, but I'm throwing out the non-stick aluminum fry-pans and replacing them with my well-seasoned cast iron. Damn the consequences.

Re: What's your tug for a 19'
In the past 2 weeks of putting on a few thousand kilometers towing our 19 with our 09 Pilot sans WD hitch, I can say that it does great. A few times on steep hills it drops out of drive in order to make it, but still will do 60 on the steepest of grades. We are quite happy with it.

Re: What's your tug for a 19'
We are getting very comfortable with the space in the 19, finally figuring out where everything should go to suit our needs best. We hardly forgot anything that we would like to have had, and brought lots that will not come next time. There is a ton of storage space between the Pilot and the 19.

Re: What's your tug for a 19'
The Escape does have lots of storage. We haven't begun to claim all the available space in the 5.0. Maybe when I retire, and we hit the road for 5-6 weeks at a time, maybe.......
